Federation demands termination of agreement
ITANAGAR, Oct 5: The Arunachal Pradesh Development Monitoring Federation (APDMF) today strongly demanded the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) to terminate the agreement with various companies such as M/s Jalshakti Engineer (P) Ltd, M/s Ushvin Hydro System (P) Ltd, M/s Gita Flopumps India Pvt Ltd and M/s Rath with Composite Industries claiming that companies had failed to set up 67 micro and mini hydro electricity projects in the state funded under prime minister package.
Armed with RTI documents, APDMF claimed that no project has been completed so far, whereas as per the agreement it was supposed to complete 20 September 2010. Claiming that said companies had failed to execute the projects as per the agreement, Federation said that APEDA should not hesitate to terminate the agreement with companies and drag them to the court to recover the advance money paid to them.

Joint meet demands immediate halt of Minority
Scheme in Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Oct 5: The joint meeting convened by Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) with representatives from various ‘prime organizations’ has demanded the State government to stop immediately all minority schemes in the state.
Expressing serious concern over the ‘divisive minority policy and programmes’ of the State and Central Governments, the meeting opined that, “If the Govt. is really willing to implement the minority schemes, it should first conduct factual religious survey through either Govt. agencies or RG University.”
Allocating duel facilities is a gruesome injustice to indigenous faith followers inflicted by central and state government, they demanded that no one should get double benefits and the State Govt. must respect the sentiments of the prime social organizations and the elite people of the state.
The meeting attended by the elites and most senior personalities like YD Thongchi, Nabam Atum, Taba Hare, Pratik Potom, Dr. Tai Nyori, Tony Koyu, Hui Tag, Bengia Hemanto, Bamin Hinda and many others has adopted few resolutions in the form of questions to put forward to the State as well as the Central Government to answer.
Some of the questions were, “What communities/people constitute Minority in Arunachal Pradesh when it is declared as 100% Scheduled Tribe state; will not continuous availing of duel benefits (ST and Minority) cost the precious ST status and encourage mass conversion?
It also questioned the conduct of religious census by private company whereas there is mechanism available with the state government for counting or maintaining a register of those who are accepting or embracing other religious faiths with the State under the “Freedom of religions Act 1978”.
“Only after identifying the minority person/families, the govt. should declare the minority blocks,” they demanded.
“Further declaring suspected Bangladeshi Muslims as minority will be like granting them PRC in Arunachal Pradesh and it will attract a large number of Muslims to convert the thin populated Arunachal into an over populated State,” the meeting observed.
The meeting also opined that those individual or community who want to get converted to minority status should surrender their ST certificates.
Meanwhile, the joint committee constituted in the meeting for this issue will submit memoranda to the President of India, the Prime Minister, Chief Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Governor and other key posts of the administration soon. The Committee also resolved to organize agitation, protest rallies in all districts and other steps, if necessary for fulfillment of the demand. Jagdamba Mall, Organising Secertary, Janjati Faith and Culture Protection Forum of India (JFCPF) also attended the meeting and assure to extend every possible support to the action committee.
The meeting was convened by Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP).
Seppa on the boil after clash breaks out between security force and youths

ITANAGAR, Oct 5: Seppa the district headquarters of East Kameng is in the news for wrong reason as a minor skirmish between CRPF personnel and students turned full scale clash this evening leading dozens of people injured, while a worker sustained bullet injury.
Sources from Seppa informed this daily that the incident broke out around 4 pm today when three youths repairing their shoes with cobbler near SBI bank were reportedly beaten up by CRPF personnel after exchange of heated argument over allegedly peeing near a Peepal tree.
The situation turned violent when few onlookers reacted trongly by pelting stone at them saying that minor fault of youths could have been excused, sources added. Later scores of youths reportedly joined in pelting stone and drove the CRPF personnel back to their camp. Subsequently the security forces regrouped with full strength, went on rampage in retaliation, resorted to indiscriminate lathi charge at general ground and damaged few two wheelers. Sources further informed that the security forces resorted to blank firing to disperse the angry mob, in which one labourer sustained bullet injuries.
The situation snowballed into major crisis when hundreds of people reacted angrily against blank firing, went on berserk and set ablaze a Mahindra Bolero of the police department and a shop near SBI Bank, sources claimed.
Meanwhile, when contacted, police sources, while confirming the incident, disclosed that situation is highly volatile. It also said that Superintendent of Police B. K Mishra was reportedly manhandled by mob during the clash.

Pasighat town, the Pasighat People’s Welfare Committee (PPWC) has urged the elected
representatives of the district to take appropriate step and fruitful measures to
solve the chronic electricity problem in the century-
Power situation remained the same for so long despite the full supports and necessary fund provided by the Government for solving the power crisis, PPWC chairman Okom Yosung said in a release.
There has been no improvement in power scenario even after completion of the 33kv line from Assam to Pasighat via Jonai as the entire Pasighat town is still reeling under severe power crisis, he said.
“The 33kv line should immediately be connected and charged, if it is completed,” the PPWC chairman demanded.
In regards to 132 kv Aalo-
He claimed that the government has sanctioned Rs 58 crore for the work.
According to Okom, all necessary materials have already been provided to Aalo, Rumgong and Pasighat divisions. But work was not progressing well excepting the work carried out by Pasighat division, he claimed.
Expressing serious concern tardy progress of the work, he urged the Chief Engineer (Power) to intervene and direct all concerned, including the engineers/officials responsible for carrying out the work to take the work on priority basis.
“Any further delay in construction of the line will be viewed seriously,” the PPWC chairman cautioned.
He also demanded for early renovation/replacement of the defunct turbines of Sille and Yembung hydel projects as assured by the High Level Committee (HLC) in its meeting at DC’s Conference Hall last year.
The PPWC chairman has also criticized lack of coordination and negligent attitude of all the MLAs barring one for solving the chronic problem.
Woman activists continue crusade against narcotic substances

Objection to inclusion of Arunachal’s villages in MAC
ITANAGAR, Oct 5: A delegation comprising public from Likabali assembly constituency led by senior leader and social activist Sengo Taipodia called on Chief Secretary yesterday and apprised him about their strong objection to inclusion of nine Arunachal Pradesh villages in Mishing Autonomous Council (MAC), according to Galo Students’ Union (GSU) release.
While describing the chaos prevailing in those villages after the news of inclusion of their villages in MAC, the delegation appealed to the Chief Secretary to intervene and take up the matter with appropriate authority. The release claimed that some of the people of Minmang village under Kangku circle have been enrolled in electoral roll under Dhemaji district and now Barojan is being targeted.
“When the people of foothills area are in chaos and fear, a stoick silence on the part of the state govt. over the issue is making the situation even worst,” the release said.

Longding police launch opium abuse awareness campaign
ITANAGAR, Oct 5: Longding Police have launched movement against the menace of opium abuse in the area yesterday.
As part of the movement, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar along with Deputy SP (HQs.) S Singpho and other police officials of Longding interacted with the students of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Longding, informed the SP in a release.
The Superintendent of Police requested the teachers and students to be role model and messenger to spread the implications of opium abuse and stop poppy cultivation to the parents and general public.

AALO, Oct 5: In order to ensure preparation of fair and transparent Electoral Roll for the district, an elaborate meeting with various political parties was held under the chairmanship of West Siang District Election Officer M.K. Sahoo at DC’s Conference Hall on Oct 3.
Presiding over the meet, the DEO said that fair and transparent electoral roll cannot be thought of without support of political parties, initiative by the Booth Level Officer and cooperation from Booth Level Agents. PASIGHAT, Oct 5: Sponsored by the Daying Ering College of Teachers’ Education, the Department of Women and Child Development organized an interactive meeting cum awareness camp at Mirbuk community hall yesterday to commemorate the celebration of “Senior Citizens Week”. The National Social Assistance Program is a program for the poor households which came into effect from August 15. The national old age pension scheme covers older persons/destitute. Christian Revival Youth Fellowship Naharlagun celebrates 26th Foundation Day
ITANAGAR, Oct 5: The Youth Fellowship of Christian Revival Church (CRC) Naharlagun has celebrated its 26th Foundation Day at the church’s premises F Sector, Naharlagun on Oct 2 in a befitting manner.
The programme started with spirit filled praise and worship by youth group, followed by beautiful choreographies and artistic items by the youth and Sunday school children of the church which included a shadow dance besides melodious numbers from interdenominational Yahweh band, CYE Praise band of TBC Itanagar and popular gospel singers Roshan Pordung and Khoda Moryom.
